“I have just completed an 11 day tour to Vietnam with Phototourism and I would like to share a little of this experience with you. The tour commenced in Hanoi before taking a side trip to Ninh Binh, a spectacular area famous for its wetlands and the Mua Cave. An unexpected benefit was meeting two Russian sisters, who were happy to model for us in the wetlands. On return to Hanoi we explored the region round the Hoan Kiem Lake, particularly interesting on weekends, before taking the overnight train to Lao Cai, exploring the markets of Lao Chai and on to Sa Pa. This was the starting point for our fabulous trek to a Hmong village homestay. On the way we were privileged to come across a wedding, which we were then invited to photograph and share in the celebrations (and delicious local food). A particular highlight was the opportunity to photograph a local woman, Mei, 111 years of age. A trip a short drive from Hanoi was one of the many incense villages, which provided opportunities to capture some great images. A short flight to Da Nang and on to the fascinating town of Hoi An followed. Water is ubiquitous in the region and it provides great opportunities to take reflection based images, night and day.” –
